Mapleton Man Given Probation Following Drunk Driving Death of His Passenger in a UTV Accident

A Mapleton man has been placed on supervised probation for three years in the death of his passenger while being drunk when he crashed his utility terrain vehicle.

According to court documents, 53 year old Lance Eric Leiferman was also sentenced Tuesday to serve one day in the Blue Earth County Jail and is convicted of a felony.  Court documents say successful completion of the probation will reduce the felony to a misdemeanor.

Fifty nine year old Susan Marie Quiram of Elysian, was found underneath the UTV about a half mile south of 105th Street and a half mile east of Blue Earth County Road 7, near Mapleton when the incident happened September 15th, 2022.

Leiferman was charged with criminal vehicular homicide and DWI charges in Blue Earth County District Court.
