Blue Earth Mayor Rick Scholtes released a public statement this morning regarding refugee resettlement misinformation that’s been making its way through the community and social media.
Scholtes’ statement reads, “In recent days, there has been misinformation circulating on social media and within our community regarding refugee resettlement in the City of Blue Earth, including claims of the City Council and staff having knowledge of or involvement in these efforts. We want to clarify that neither the City Council nor any staff members have been informed or involved in any discussions or plans related to refugee resettlement or the establishment of any sanctuary program within Blue Earth.
We understand that these topics can be sensitive and we encourage all community members to seek accurate information directly from official City channels rather than relying on unverified sources. We value transparency and will continue to communicate openly about any relevant issues that affect our city. At this time, there is no basis for the claims being made.
If you have any questions or concerns, we urge you to contact the City of Blue Earth directly for further clarification.
Thank you for your attention and commitment to maintaining a well informed and respectful community.”
