The Faribault County Board of Commissioners set the preliminary budget and levy for 2025 at their meeting on Tuesday.
After going through talks with all the departments about their needs, Commissioner Greg Young says that the only thing that still needs to be resolved is the 3 year personnel contract, because the county hasn’t yet heard how much the insurance will be increasing. The commissioners set the preliminary levy increase at 9.28%.
Commissioner Young said that they hope to work down the 9.2% increase. The current budget for next year is set at $37 million.
The Commissioners will continue to work the next few months to try and lower the levy increase. The budget and levy must be finalized by the end of December.
