B.E. Council Receives an Update on Current Street Projects

The Blue Earth City Council met on Monday and received an update from City Engineer Ben Rosol on current street improvement projects.

Rosol informed the council that all streets in total reconstructive phases have been restored to gravel on the 2nd Street project and that the concrete work would be next, with that starting at the end of the month.  The railroad crossing work will begin Monday, September 23rd.  On 10th Street, the water main installation has begun and will take two weeks to complete.

Rosol also gave the council the 2025 Street Project recommendation as the Street Committee met last week and came to the conclusion that the next street improvement project should be on South Linton Street.  The project will go from 10th Street to 7th Street, 9th Street from Holland Street to Main Street and 8th Street from the west Dead End to Nicollet Street.  The project is estimated to cost just over $3 million.

The Council approved the project moving forward with more field data collection, with the engineering feasibility report coming in October and then sometime in November a preliminary assessment hearing would be held.
