Faribault County Commissioners Vote to Give Money to Bass Lake for Water Treatment

The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday Afternoon and received a request for funding from the Bass Lake Clean Water Coalition.

Commissioner Greg Young says that Bass Lake has had some problems over the past few years with algae and contaminants in the water and have not been successful in finding any grants to cover the cost of treating those issues.

Young says the timing for the request was a little controversial, as the county doesn’t have the money budgeted for the current year, but since it is a clean water issue and it is county water, the board voted to give the Coalition $11,000 to help treat some of Bass Lake’s water issues.

With the help of the Faribault County Soil & Water Conservation District, the Coalition hopes to get some grant funding in the future to keep Bass Lake a clean waterway.
