The Faribault County Extension Office is seeking nominations for the 2024 Faribault County Farm Family of the Year. The University of Minnesota Farm Family Recognition Program honors farm families from throughout Minnesota for their significant contributions to the agriculture industry and their local communities. Honored families are chosen, one per county, by local University of Minnesota Extension Committees based on their demonstrated commitment to their communities and to enhancing and supporting agriculture.
The Farm Family Recognition Program has honored Minnesota farmers since 1979. It is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension, the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine. The families are honored at both the county fair and Farmfest, which is held in August each year.
The Bill and Susie Rosenau family of Blue Earth was named Faribault County’s 2023 Farm Family of the Year by the University of Minnesota.
Selection Criteria include being actively involved in agricultural production beyond the usual endeavors and having made significant short term progress and/or innovative contributions with agricultural endeavors. Nominees must have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing and supporting the fields of agriculture and production, have some involvement in their communities and/or related organizations and have not previously have been a chosen Farm Family winner.
