The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service – Prospective Plantings Report for Minnesota and Iowa was released Monday.
Minnesota farmers intend to plant 8.60 million acres of corn for all purposes in 2025, up 400,000 acres from 2024. Iowa farmers intend to plant 13.5 million acres of corn, up 600,000 acres from last year.
Producers intend to plant 7.00 million acres of soybeans in Minnesota this year, 400,000 acres lower than in 2024. Producers intend to plan 9.6 million acres of soybeans, 450,000 acres lower than last year.
Farmers in Minnesota expect to harvest 1.14 million acres of dry hay for the 2025 crop year. This is 60,000 acres below last year.
Farmers in Iowa expect to harvest 1.01 million acres of all dry hay for the 2025 crop year. This is 10,000 acres above last year.
