Mapleton EDA Lays Out Daycare Plan Following their Grant Award

The Mapleton Economic Development Authority is planning to buy property within the town and install a prefabricated one bedroom house there for an in home daycare for up to 12 kids.

Business of Child Care in Bloomington collaborated with the Mapleton EDA on a $175,120 grant recently received form the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

The Mapleton EDA expects its in home daycare option to cost $300,000 and are looking to the community for support in raising the additional funds.

The plan is for the prefabricated home to be leased to a child care provider.  The provided wouldn’t live on site, but would use the home’s single bedroom as napping space for the day care children.  The EDA is looking at a property near the high school for the prefabricated home to be installed, according to a news release about the project.

Officials hope to have it running by late summer.
