The Green Plains Ethanol Plant in Fairmont has stopped operations.
The plant closed at 7pm Thursday, laying off 55 employees.
Green Plains had operated the plant, located at 1125 Bixby Road, since 2014 when it bought out another plant which had been idle since 2012.
Green Plains continues to operate plants in Superior and Shenandoah, Iowa, as well as several other locations around the Midwest.
