Winnebago Man and North Mankato Woman Facing Drug Charges Following a Traffic Stop

A Winnebago man and a North Mankato woman face drug sales charges in Nicollet County after a traffic stop yielded about 1.5 pound of meth from the vehicle they were in.

Thirty nine year old Matthew Robert Mattin and 62 year old Kimberly Ann Jahnke were charged Friday in Nicollet County District Court.  Mattin faces two felonies for sales, two felonies for possession and a misdemeanor for driver after revocation, while Jahnke faces two felonies each for sales and possession.

A criminal complaint states the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Drug Task Force began surveilling Jahnke’s movements on September 30th, reportedly due to a previous investigation into Jahnke’s sale of methamphetamine to a confidential informant.

On December 11th law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop on Mattin and Jahnke, Mattin was the driver despite his license getting revoked.  The earlier investigation into Jahnke prompted an agent to order a police dog to conduct a sniff test on the vehicle, according to the complaint.

The K9 alerted investigators to the presence of narcotics.  Investigators reported finding 687.85 grams, of about 1.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine in bags, plus $9,116 in cash.

Jahnke told an agent she had bought the meth from a source in the Twin Cities area and had done so about 10 times within the previous two or three months, the complaint states.  She alleged Mattin knew about the purchase on December 11th and had provided half of the money needed for it.

She further detailed drug sales by her in North Mankato and Wells.

Mattin denied knowing about the drug purchase in the Twin Cities, saying the two had traveled there to look at a vehicle.  He claimed to only buy meth for his personal use, according to the complaint.
