The Blue Earth City Council passed three ordinances that were on the agenda at their council meeting on Monday.
The first was an ordinance to adopt an amended and restated chapter 10 of the Blue Earth City Code regulating zoning in the city.
The second ordinance was regulating cannabis businesses in the city. Many of the regulations put forward are in line with that the State has set and are not any stricter.
One major regulation is where a cannabis operation can operate. The operation of a cannabis business is prohibited within 700 feet of a school, within 500 feet of a daycare and within 500 feet of an attraction within a public park that is regularly used by minors, including a playground or athletic field.
The third ordinance passes was just the amending the title of Chapter 4 of the Zoning Code to add cannabis business to the liquor, wine and beer licensing and regulations.
The council also set the tax levy and approved the budget for 2025. The general operating levy was set at $1.03 million and the debt levy was $1.27 million, for a total of just over $2.3 million an increase of 17.05%.
The budget for 2025 was set at $4,439,407, an increase of $19,534 from 2024.
