The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday and received a request from the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office to purchase two squad trucks.
The Board approved the request for the new trucks. Commissioner John Roper said the trucks were originally budgeted for 2025, because they got good pricing from Fairmont Ford, the purchase was moved up to this year.
The Sheriff’s Office will be getting two 2024 Ford F-150s at a price of $100,100. Roper said one good thing about the pickups is their resale value. The Ford Edge’s and Escapes that the Sheriff’s Office used to purchase, had almost no resale value by the time the time came for them to be replaced.
In 2025, the Sheriff’s Office will be selling 3 used squads for an estimated minimum of $55,000 to offset the new squad purchases.
