Faribault County Applies for Federal Aid for Culvert Repair Following June’s Heavy Rain and Flooding

The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday and received an update from County Engineer April Wellman on Public Works business.

One of the items Wellman brought to the council was regarding culverts around the county that received damage from the June 16th – July 4th flooding and heavy rains.

Commissioner Tom Loveall says Wellman has put together a package to receive about $400,000 in aid from the Federal Highway Administration to fix the culverts.

Loveall says they’ve identified 8-9 culverts that may be eligible for slip lining.  The slip lining will slide into the culvert and it will be heated to fill in the cracks and holes.

The County will now submit the request to the Federal Highway Administration and wait to see if it’s approved.
