USDA Releases Crop Production Report for MN & Iowa as of August 1st

According to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistic Service – Crop Production Report, Minnesota corn production is forecast to at 1.42 billion bushels, down 6% from the previous year.  Based on conditions as of August 1st, yields are expected to average 185.0 bushels per acre, unchanged from last year.  Corn planted acreage is estimated at 8.20 million acres, an estimated 7.65 million of the acres planted will be harvested for grain.

Iowa corn production is forecast at 2.58 billion bushels, up 2% from the previous year, with yields expected to average 209.0 bushels per acre, up 8.0 bushels from last year.  Corn planted acreage is estimated at 12.9 million acres, with an estimated 12.4 million of the acres planted to be harvested for grain.

Minnesota soybean production is forecast at 359 million bushels, up 3% from the previous year.  The yield is forecast at 49.0 bushels per acre, 1.0 bushel higher than 2023.  Soybean planted acrage is estimated at 7.40 million acres, with 7.33 million acres to be harvested.

Iowa soybean production is forecast at 608 million bushels, up 6% from the previous year.  Yield is forecast at 61.0 bushels per acre, 3.0 bushels higher than 2023.  Soybean planted acreage is estimated at 10.1 million acres, with 9.97 million acres to be harvested.
