Robertson Resigns as Winnebago Mayor, Jean Anderson Appointed to Finish Term

Winnebago Mayor Scott Robertson submitted his resignation at the regular City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Robertson and his son Jacob are facing two felonies related to unlawful cultivation of cannabis plants and two felonies related to aiding and abetting and conspiracy in Faribault County District Court.  A criminal complaint was filed against the two on Friday after an investigation.

Winnebago City Council member Jean Anderson has been appointed as Mayor to fill out the remainder of Robertson’s term, which ends at the end of this year.  With Anderson becoming Mayor, the council is also considering an appointment to fill her open seat.  That term also ends at the end of this year.  Both the Mayor’s position and the Council Seat are up for election in November.

Scott Robertson’s initial court appearance is set for Friday, February 16th, while Jacob Robertson’s hearing is set for March 25th.
