A recent industrial plant fire in Wells is still being investigated by the Wells Fire Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office.
The blaze was initially reported at around 5:45pm on Friday at Wells Concrete, located on State Highway 109, near the intersection of State Highway 22, in Wells.
Fire Departments from Wells, Minnesota Lake, Freeborn, Kiester and Easton were called upon to battle the blaze.
According to Wells Fire Chief Guy Kimpton, the fire started in the center of the company’s north building and was initially reported by an employee.
Kimpton estimated the fire was contained to about a 100 foot area of the plant, though there was smoke damage throughout the entire building.
One firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, but is now back home.
Employees who had previously been working in the area where the fire occurred have been relocated to a different area of the plant.
