Minnesota farmers were able to take advantage of 6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending May 16th according to the USDA.
Minnesota’s statewide corn planting was nearing completion at 95%, one day ahead of last year and over two weeks ahead of the 5 year average. Corn emergence reached 39%, 4 days behind last year and 2 days ahead of the 5 year average.
Soybean planting progress was 88% completed, just over one week ahead of last year and over 2 weeks ahead of average. Soybean emergence reached 10%, 4 days behind last year and 2 days ahead of average.
Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 14% very short, 37% short, 48% adequate and 1% surplus statewide.
